A big congratulations to Phoenix Mariah and Sky’s Burnin Blue “Gracie” on winning the 2019 NAL - North American League High Adult Jumper Championships at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg! We are so proud of Cali Karbler and High Standards “Percy” for an amazing year and wonderful end to the season, qualifying and competing with great rounds at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show NAL - North American League and Washington International Horse Show WIHS Indoor Finals. They finished 13th in Washington D.C., at a show most would never expect to see a Standardbred ex-pacer wowing the crowd at, but there they were for the second year in a row showing the World how it’s done! Cali works hard and remains grateful for her special horse with a heart of gold, every single day. Everyone at Quiet Meadow is so proud! Way to go

Two of our riders, featured in Ohio Equestrian Magazine

We are so proud of two of our riders being featured in Ohio Equestrian Directory Magazine, in the featured article: "Inspiring Equestrians and their Extra"ordinary" Horses", written by one of our own, Mandy Boggs.

Read it here: https://issuu.com/equestriandirectory.ensomed…/…/oed_2019/14

The story features three young riders in Ohio that have taken a neglected rescued mare, a standardbred pacer, and the first horse a young boy could afford (whom he found on Craigslist), to unbelievable achievements. Quiet Meadow rider's Phoenix Hill and her horse Sky's Burnin Blue, and Cali Karbler on High Standards have inspired many, and continue to every day.
Matthew Siefker and his mare "Grace" are equally as inspiring (he taught himself how to train his horse off YouTube videos!).
Phoenix and Cali, trained by Stefanie Portman and Shirley Krames-Kopas Chagrin Falls, Ohio

One of our green horses attended Lake Erie College's 50th Anniversary Prix de Villes show on April 13-15th. Chemistry, owned by Mandy B and shown by Stefanie Portman, were Champion in the 3’3” Open Hunter on Friday, his first time showing in the 3'3'', and 3rd in the 3’ (aka 4’3”) Schneider Saddlery Performance Open Hunter Derby. He had an 87 score in the first round, almost had it won with his handy trip, but had a silly baby moment at the trot fence. Height was not an issue this weekend. "Sheldon" must think he gets bonus points for jumping the standards. Green horses are always entertaining!

July 2017 - Brave Horse Show - Ohio

It was a FANTASTIC weekend at the Brave Show! What a beautiful facility, footing, and staff! Despite the tornado warnings and heavy storms, it was a great show and we can't wait to be back! Superstition and Phoenix Cooke won the Ariat and scored an 82 in the NAL/WIHS Adult Hunter Classic. Skys Burnin' Blue had a clean sweep with Champion in the Adult Jumpers and Winning the $2500 NAL/WIHS Adult Jumper classic! Stefanie Portman may have gotten a little soaked, but what a great weekend getaway at this beautiful new facility!

July 2017 - Cleveland CVHJC Horse Show at the Polo Fields

We always look forward to the Cleveland Show at the Polo Fields. As usual, it rained, but we lucked out and missed most of the rainy weather when it came time to being in the ring. Our students and client's horses were great both weeks!

Turn the Paige, ridden by Taylor Bebe, owned by Shirley Kopas, had great ribbons in the Low-Children's and Non-Pro Hunters, placing second in two of her over fences, and second in the Eq on the Flat. Taylor had some really nice rounds on "Paige".

The Chocolatier, ridden/owned by Rachel Nelson, and also ridden by Stefanie Portman, had great ribbons in the 3'3'' Performance Hunters and the Adult Hunters 18-35 Division. They had some great ribbons in both divisions, including 2nd in one of their big O/F classes. The Chocolatier also competed in his first USHJA National Hunter Derby, just getting bumped out on the top 12 by the last horse that went in the ring.

June 2017 - Kentucky Was a Success!

Congratulations to a successful two weeks in Kentucky at the Country Heir Shows. Stefanie Portman and Shirley Krames Kopas continue to work hard making their students and horses the best they can be!

Phoenix Cooke and Sky's Burnin' Blue won the $10,000 NAL Adult Jumper Classic, and were Champion in the Adult Jumpers week I out of 50+ horses, 3rd in the $10,000 NAL Adult Jumper Classic week II, and winning most of their Adult Jumper classes. Bella did a wonderful job making sure "Gracie" stayed fit and happy during the week while Phoenix was at work, with plenty of time spent hacking on the Rolex field.

Ellie Meil did the Adult Hunters on Chapter Two (O: Shirley Kopas/Stefanie Portman), ending the show with some beautiful trips and many great memories their first time showing in Kentucky! Crossing "riding on the Rolex field" off her bucket list, all the girls really enjoyed their time there. Chapter Two is a new mount for Ellie and they've continued to make wonderful progress together!

5 yr old Chemistry (O: Mandy B. R:Stefanie Portman) joined us for his first real show of 2017, moving up to the 3' Green Hunters after taking a 6 month horse-show-hiatus since last summer, while he had quite the growth spurt. He made it to the jog in almost all of his over fences, placing 8-9th out of 50, and pinning in the hack. Aside from having too much fun on the Rolex XC field, Chemistry also did his very first National Hunter Derby, opening the doors to his bright future as a Derby Horse.

A big thank you to everyone who worked hard to make these two weeks possible for everyone involved. These "away shows" are anything but easy both at the shows and back at home. Thank you!
Looking forward to a successful summer!

Early Spring 2017 - World Equestrian Center / CVF Indoor Series

2016-2017 Adult Jumper Winter Series Grand Champion: Skys Burnin' Blue! Thank you so much Linda for a great winter series at Chagrin Valley Farms!  Skys Burnin' Blue was also Champion of the Adult Jumper Division and NAL/WIHS Adult Jumper Classics at numerous World Equestrian Center Shows to kick off 2017.  Phoenix Cooke was also successful in the Adult Hunters and Ariat Adult Medal on Stefanie Portman's young horse "Superstition", she has been leasing to get some time in the Hunter Ring for a change!

Ellie Meil had a successful Chagrin Valley Farms winter show series with Chapter Two! Congratulations to all our other Quiet Meadow Farms Riders, Taylor, Bryn, Kacie, Ellie, Bonnie, Thomas, Lauren, Joy.... who showed this winter during the Indoor Series and Schooling Shows!

Winter 2017 - What Is a Baby to Do All Winter?

While everyone else is showing indoors, Chemistry, aka Sheldon, spent the winter back home with his owner, who lives out of state. Knowing Stefanie since childhood, she is the only professional his owner trusts with giving him miles in the hunter ring. It still gets cold where they live, but they don't have the snow we have in Northeastern Ohio.  While he spent the winter growing, he got to have a little fun doing other things. Sheldon kicked off his winter vacation Fox Hunting , both of their first times, attended a Horse World Expo Clinic with Nick Karazissis in front of large crowds and working on small grids just for babies. The competed in their first horse show together over fences (his owner's first time jumping a course in 9 years) in the Low-Adults, ending up tied for Reserve Champion. Sheldon got to nap thru about six months of winter (don't you know you grow best when you sleep?) before starting to get back in shape, this spring. Many don't know this, but he lives at his owner's family farm when he is in Ohio to have fun with us, and meets us at horse shows. Stefanie has done the amazing job with his hunter career, often only getting to ride him at the horse shows. Sheldon's prep is a little unorthodox, but it must be working. He does all sorts of unique things in between shows, such as Cow Sorting, Obstacle Challenges, Trail Riding, Costume Classes, Parades, Western Riding, Dressage Lessons, and everything in between. Next time you see us turning down offers from trainer's wanting to buy him, you will know why his owner will never-EVER part with this cool guy she bred and raised.
