About Shirley Kopas
Shirley Krames Kopas has been teaching for nearly all of her life. She had the opportunity to design and build farms, manage other facilities, work as a trainer at the race track, breed & raise foals and teach many outstanding students, both young and old, to ride.
Shirley’s primary goal as a trainer is to teach her students not only the skills to ride but also the horsemanship and tools needed to keep horses happy and healthy, all the while still having fun. No matter your equestrian goals, from trail riding to horse showing Shirley can help get you started on the right track. She also has wonderful horses for half lease or full lease. Shirley continues to do what she enjoys most and that is to introduce anyone, at any age, to the wonderful world of horses. Many here at Quiet Meadow call her the "Mom" of the barn. She has a love for every student and horse that offers encouragement (with a little sarcasm and sass), builds confidence, and always keeps our riders in line with showing good horsemanship and being responsible horse owners and riders. She will teach you the correct way to do something and explain why, and keeps things fun. If you fall off, you can expect to bake cookies! Shirley can be contacted at (440) 708-3023. |
Professional Stefanie Portman has been has been teaching and riding professionally since she was 18 years old. She was the first member of her family to become interested in horses and riding.
Stefanie seeks to develop a perfect combination of horse and rider that is prepared to handle any situation presented in the show ring. She is known in the industry to have a genuine talent for young/green horses, giving them the proper foundation, confidence, and knowledge they need to ensure for a successful future for the amateur rider. She puts the horse first and gives each horse the unique program that works best for them. She truly enjoys bringing horses along and watching them transform. She steers away from the use of "tools" or "gadgets", and works to teach them the correct way with educated and proper riding. Stefanie shows horses for a number of clients, has a number of horses in training, and coaches mostly our riders that participate in the show program here at Quiet Meadow. Stefanie competes hunters/jumpers and is a longtime member of USEF, USHJA, and OPHA. Stefanie is also accomplished rider in Calf Roping, winning numerous awards at the AQHA All American QH Congress championships. While time at the farm keeps her busy, she enjoys the opportunity to have a change of scenery whenever she can with her talented rope horses. Many of Stefanie's customers love this about her as going on trail rides or doing different things with the horses keeps things fun for both the horses and the riders here. Stefanie recently fell in love with potbellied pigs and has been a valued Foster for Belly Brother's Pig Rescue. She typically has an average of 10+ pigs living at her personal farm, working hard to advocate and educate others on what wonderful pets they are and how to give them the proper care they need. Stefanie can be contacted at (440) 636-3813. |
